Content Topic of the Lecture : Developmental direction of medical dramas in the OTT era

Main Points of the Lecture : The spread of global OTT as a content distribution channel has grown the scope of the simultaneous open market from one country to an international scale. OTT is providing a possibility to overcome the limitations of drama ratings that have fallen due to the increase in media. Medical dramas dealing with universal human values have the potential to grow into a drama genre that can be popular around the world. It is necessary to develop medical dramas by expanding themes that meet the latest medical trends, breaking away from the medical specialism of the past. I propose to develop a system in which the medical community and content production companies can closely cooperate in various aspects, such as material discovery, scenario writing, and verification of the production process.

Content Topic of the Lecture : A study on the production process of Medical drama: Focusing on the consultation between medical team and director

Main Points of the Lecture : From the producer’s perspective, we observe the production process of medical dramas microscopically. Also we examine the unique storytelling method of the drama that has been regulated by the production practices of medical dramas and resulting limitations. In particular, we look at the case of conflict and compromise between dramatic permission and the reality of medical information during the collaboration between the director and the advisory medical staff. Through this, we will find the trend and development direction of Korean medical drama in the OTT era.
