❏ Title : Busan Content Market 2022 Achieves $147.41 Million in Transactions
The Busan Content Market (BCM) 2020, held from June 8th to June 24th, successfully concluded with a significant transaction performance of $147.41 million. This year’s market, themed "Your Story is Our Story," attracted major attention as it was the first offline content market held in Asia since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The event was hosted at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO) in Haeundae-gu, Busan.
One of the highlights this year was the participation of Apple TV Plus’ original series "Pachinko," whose team shared behind-the-scenes insights during the BCM conference on June 9th. Similarly, the drama "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" was previewed, captivating attendees with its unique content.
KT Studio Genie, the parent company of "Extraordinary Attorney Woo," made headlines by premiering the drama at BCM. The company also introduced other new productions such as "Good Job," leveraging the event to promote original content and showcase the capabilities of Korean content on a global stage.
Studio Lululala from JTBC also presented a new lineup of dramas including "Cleaning Up" and "Insider," alongside a diverse array of other genres. Other leading K-content companies such as CJ ENM, KBS Media, MBC, SBS, and web drama production company Playlist participated, offering attendees a glimpse into the latest content offerings.
In addition to content showcases, BCM Funding's "BIZ Matching" facilitated crucial one-on-one consultations between content producers and an investment advisory panel consisting of venture investment evaluators. The first day's "Investment Agreement Ceremony" saw active participation, with six companies, including three venture investment firms and three drama and film production companies, making significant strides in content funding and collaboration.
A noteworthy achievement was the signing of an investment agreement for the film "Late Night Cafe" by local production company K-Dragon, which raised expectations for the film’s upcoming release.
